WWII Statue in Strathaven
A memorial to a dog who saved his handler from drowning during World War Two has been unveiled in Strathaven,South Lanarkshire.
The life-size bronze statue of Khan, a German Shepherd, and L/Cpl Jimmy Muldoon has been erected on Strathaven Common Green.The statue which shows the bond between the man and his dog was created by John McKenna whose other works include the statue of Billy McNeill outside Celtic Park.

Clyde Wind Farm
This project became a very visible sign of Scotland's early commitment to renewable energy as the turbines could be seen on either side of the main motorway (A74(M)) into Scotland as it passed through the Southern Uplands.
The Clyde Wind Farm is a 522 megawatt (MW) wind farm near Abington in South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Article added 10th October 2022
Auchrobert Wind Farm
Auchrobert Wind Farm is located on partially forested hills in South Lanarkshire, 25km south of Glasgow and 6km south east of Strathaven, Scotland. The windfarm has a maximum export capacity of 36 MW, consists of 12 3.2 MW turbines and produces enough clean energy to power approximately 26,000 homes. Article added 28th September 2022.
Andershaw and Middle Muir Wind Farms

Andershaw and Middle Muir Windfarms are located between Douglas and Crawfordjohn in South Lanarkshire. Access is by two entry points on the B7078. Article added 20th August 2022.
Kennoxhead Wind Farm
This windfarm is located behind the above two and is accessible also from Glespin on the A70. The first phase is now complete and a second phase is planned.

Kype Muir Wind Farm
Kype Muir Wind Farm, located approximately 5km south of Strathaven, is a flagship development for Banks Renewables. It has 26 turbines generating up to c88.4MW in total and was operational in May 2019.
An extension of 15 highly efficient 200m turbines is under construction and and will have an average output per turbine of 15GW. Completion is expected for early 2023.

Glenbuck in East Ayrshire is just over the border with South Lanarkshire in a hilly area. It is the birthplace of Bill Shankly, football legend in 1913. Some photos of Glenbuck and other places in Ayrshire.
